MEMBERS BENEFITS

Although the SPBW has been a low key society it is known and respected in the province. The Society supports cask ale in the province and locally produced items. Some of the people we support are happy to give something back to the Society and its members. It is just a case of showing your current SPBW membership card prior to purchase to receive a discount on certain goods. Please make a point of showing you are an SPBW member and supporting the very nice people who allow us the discount.

Also, check out our other branch and national discounts: DISCOUNTS

Due to some changes resulting at the AGM, membership cards will be updated prior to the July event.
Please make sure your membership is up to date by the as the old NI membership cards will not be valid.

NB:
Membership discounts can save you far more than your £5 membership fee!

The Sunflower bar

Sunflower

65 Union Street
Belfast
BT1 2JG
(028) 9023 2474 (T)

This used to be the old Tavern bar, famed for being about the last of the Belfast pubs to have a security gate at the front door, harking back to the 70's era. As such it had been the frontage for some films shot for that era. It has now been refurbished, still with the familiar exterior design, but still holding on to an old fashioned backstreet and unpretentious bar atmosphere - something sadly missing in the city. The owner, Pedro, has been in the trade a long time and serves a great selection of bottled beers and has a cask ale pump on the counter. The bar has a tiled floor with half-height wood paneled walls and painted brick and a quirky barber's chair. The stairs, with 60's style pop-art painted walls and old wood floor, leads to the upstairs live music room complete with a a very unusual bar counter.
Thank you Pedro.

THE HUDSON BAR

The Hudson Bar

Originally DuBarry's, it is now a bit more upmarket but still into music. A three story building with large lettered windows downstairs overlooking a sad Smithfield. Small tiled and wood floor with a distressed mirror behind the small bar. Bric-a-brac, painted bricks and old fashioned wallpaper set the scene. Two floors upstairs for music and events. To the rear is the smoke area, which has been fully opened up as an alfrsco lounge area, and is actually the old arcade taken over, giving a huge potential for parties, events, BBQs. There is a good selection of bottled beers and draught from the Williams Brothers - though this is keg. This includes a badged Hudson Beer. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
